Ah, pinto beans—one half of one of life's greatest choices: black beans or pinto? We could bore you with the details of why you might want to pick one over the other, but the difference that really matters to us is taste. Pinto beans are rich and smoky, with a depth of flavor that makes a delicious foundation for your ingredient masterpiece. As for us, when it comes down to choosing between black and pinto beans, the answer is always yes.

FACT

The bean with a fancy name

We don't want to obsess over the details (who are we kidding? It's what we do), but there IS one obvious difference between pinto and black beans we haven't yet mentioned: color. When cooked, the pinto's dark brown streaks disappear as the beans morph into a solid pale beige. It's actually how the pinto got its name. In Spanish, "pinto" means "painted." Cool beans, indeed.
